Common Discord scams and warning signs

Unexpected urgency, rewards, downloads, login pages, and QR codes are recurring signs of account theft attempts.

Fake rewards and urgent messages

Messages offering free Nitro, game items, staff positions, or giveaways may send users to copied login pages. Pressure to act immediately is a common manipulation tactic.

QR-code login scams

Discord QR codes are used for login. Scanning a code sent by an untrusted person can authorize their session. If this happens, change the password immediately and review the account.

Malicious downloads and code

Do not run “test builds,” cheats, installers, browser scripts, or copied commands from an unknown sender. A compromised friend can send malicious files from a familiar account.

Impersonation and reporting

Discord staff do not need your password or token. Verify claims through official support, block suspicious accounts, preserve evidence, and use Discord’s reporting tools.
